I came to realize at a very young age that art would hold tremendous significance and presence in my life. I’m fortunate to have come from a family of creative souls who encouraged me to express my artistic ability over the years. Painting and sketching, particularly, have been a saviour in many ways by giving me life, helping me explore my deeper self, and find inner peace.
Personally speaking, the painting process is an exercise in patience and intention to create highly intricate paintings. Each brush stroke is carefully planned and applied to achieve the right mood and effect. Details matter to me and it speaks to how I move through life.
I enjoy using a wide variety of mediums and painting techniques ... within my acrylic painting pieces. I find the merging of two or more unlikely ideas to be fascinating and thrilling to work with; when harmoniously coexisting on a single canvas, it is often refreshing. A similar line of thought has led me to connect with my Indian roots through my paintings while aiming to portray the rich, ancient culture in a way that shares old stories and ideas with a new vision.
For the creation of my pieces, everyday life is my biggest inspiration and ideas are born while doing mundane activities and daydreaming. Especially daydreaming. I find myself questioning why certain cultural ideas are repeatedly celebrated, and although magnificent, are often paired with an apparent resistance to change. The truth is, cultural transformation has been inevitable since the beginning of time. So why not celebrate it by reviving old ideas in a way that is relatable to the hearts of people and remains relevant to the changing times?
Ultimately, it is this convergence, which I view as unity and inclusivity, that feeds my motivation and forms the core essence of my paintings.
